PLEASANT THOUGHT: we’ve already made it through the shortest day of the winter & every day from here on out will be lighter for longer ☺️💛 (this thought it getting me through this week) Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) hits HARD this time of year. More than THINGS THAT HELP ME: 💙monitoring my sleep. When I’m feeling down I sleep TOO much which makes me more tired and more unmotivated. Sticking to a sleep schedule keeps me in check. 💙work walk breaks. This is a non-negotiable for me. I need to see the sun. Starting work when it’s dark out and finishing work when it’s dark out is depressing. I always get out for a 20-minute walk 3 times a day for some fresh air and sunlight. 💙exercise. Movements makes me feel more energized. I’m serious when I say if I’m feeling tired, I will do some squats or jumping jacks to wake myself up. Weight training is also a non-negotiable 4x a week. 💙plan post-work activities. Having something to look forward to and something to get me out of the house after work does wonders for my mental health.
