There’s something about early spring by the beach - the kind of days where the sun is out, but the air still has that cool, salty edge. The wind picks up just enough to make everything feel alive… and just enough to make you question your hair choices.
My husband and I spent one of those days by the water, just wandering, laughing, and fully leaning into the breeze (read: getting aggressively windblown and pretending it was romantic). I wore the Montauk 1/4 Zip Sweater in Gardenia with the Daily Practice Skort in Coral Pink and it ended up being one of those outfits that just works for this kind of chaos.
The Montauk sweater is that ideal in-between layer for spring. It’s lightweight, soft, and breathable, but still gives you just enough warmth when the wind inevitably picks up the second you get comfortable. I kept it slightly unzipped for that relaxed, effortless feel, and the dropped shoulders give it that easy, slightly oversized silhouette that somehow always looks better than it feels like it should.
The skort is what really made the whole look. Because let’s be honest, wearing a skirt on a windy beach day is usually a bold decision. But this one? Completely stress-free.
There’s something so fun about the way it catches the breeze - it moves, it flows, it has that light, playful energy that just feels like spring. But underneath, you’ve got built-in bike shorts, which means no overthinking, no adjusting, no accidental main character moments you didn’t sign up for. Just full freedom to walk, climb, spin around, or run from a rogue gust of wind with complete confidence.
The fabric is soft, quick-drying, and made to move, so it keeps up with you no matter what the day turns into. Which, in our case, was a mix of beach walks, laughing at the wind, and pretending we weren’t freezing for at least part of it.
Later in the day, I went for a run down to the beach, and the weather stayed very on-brand. Still windy, still crisp, still giving “this is refreshing” while also slightly testing my commitment to going outside.

The tank is incredibly lightweight and breathable, made from that buttery soft stretch fabric that you barely notice once it’s on. The fit is relaxed but still flattering, with that slightly shorter front and longer back hem that gives it shape without clinging. It’s one of those pieces you don’t have to think about, which is exactly what you want mid-run when you’re already questioning your life choices.
The joggers really pulled everything together. The fabric is ultra-soft with just the right amount of stretch, and the seamless waistband gives you a smooth, flattering fit that actually stays in place. The tapered leg and ankle cuffs give them that classic jogger silhouette, but slightly more elevated, so you still feel put together even if your run turns into more of a light jog… or a very committed walk.
And the full-sized side pockets are genuinely functional, which means you can bring what you need without doing the awkward “where do I put my phone” shuffle before you start.
Running along the water with the wind coming off the ocean, everything just felt easy. A little chaotic, a little energizing, but easy in the way that matters. The outfit moved with me, stayed comfortable, and didn’t require any extra thought.
That’s what stood out to me most about this day. Spring isn’t always calm or predictable. Sometimes it’s windy, a little dramatic, and constantly shifting. But honestly… that’s part of the fun.
And having pieces that can keep up with all of it - that let you move, laugh, run, and fully lean into the moment (even when your hair has other plans) - makes all the difference.
