Capri pants are back. Simple as that.
Five years ago, I would have thought that saying something like that was a silly fashion joke. Just like ten years ago, I would have thought it was a joke to say that wide-leg pants would make a comeback, or that anything could ever dethrone skinny jeans.
Well, it happened, and honestly, I’m grateful for it, because I haven’t worn a pair of skinny jeans in years, and I have no intention of ever doing so again (maybe I shouldn't make these statements, though…)

I used to go through a similar negation process about capri pants.
No capris. Never again capris.
To me, capris were pants that never quite figured out their identity. They’re not shorts; they’re not full-length pants; they’re not even ankle pants. They seemed like a whole lot of nothing, so surely they couldn’t come back.
Well, guess what?
They did. And I love them.
Every so often, the trends we swear we’ve buried for good come back. Not only do they return, but suddenly they become the trendiest, most practical, and most amazing thing in the world.
It happened to me.
I work as a nanny for the two most beautiful kids in the world. I need to be comfortable, but I also need to look professional, because I’m not going to show up to a family’s house wearing shorts. Plenty of people do, and that’s fine, but it’s just not for me.
Capri pants have completely changed my life this summer. Trust me, when it’s over 85 oF outside, the last thing you want is to wear long pants that cover everything. Under those circumstances, the less fabric, the better.
So I started wearing them to work, and little by little, I gave them more chances.
Of course, social media played a role. I was seeing them on TV shows, and reality shows from the city where I live. Then I noticed them on cute girls at the grocery store too. Then the gym. Then any coffee shop in town. It got to the point where I felt like I was the one who was out of place and not keeping up with the times because I didn’t own any.
I gave them a bigger opportunity in my wardrobe, just to realize they might be the most practical thing ever.
Now it’s not just for work. I wear them to grab coffee, go to brunch with friends on a Sunday, run errands, renew my driver’s license, and literally whatever.
They really work for everything because they are incredibly versatile, and you look put together while still looking ready for summer.

Maybe we got used to thinking of capris as that one specific style we saw twenty years ago, and the idea of bringing it back feels almost sacrilegious.
Luckily, there are so many different styles of capri pants. There are athletic capris, leggings, cargo-style capris with pockets, wider cuts, fitted cuts, and just all kinds of options. If you give them a fair chance, you’ll realize there’s a style out there for everyone.
Now, maybe you're thinking:
Okay, I'll give them a chance... but how am I supposed to wear them? How have you seen people styling them? I have no idea.
If I were you, I’d say start simple.
A lot depends on which capris you decide to try first. After all, this is a piece many of us haven’t worn in twenty years.
Personally, I’d go with either a pair of cargo capris, which can work for just about anything depending on how you style them, or a simple, classic fitted pair.
If you go for the fitted, legging-style capris, throw on a tank top and some sneakers, and you're good to go. They're perfect for the gym, grocery shopping, or a good pilates session. And if you add a jacket and your everyday bag, you've got an easy, put-together look.
Feeling a little bolder?
Lose the jacket, keep the tank top, show off those arms, and add a pair of kitten heels. The whole outfit feels completely different.
If you're wearing heels, don't forget the finishing touches: a cute handbag, a great pair of sunglasses, and you're done. It's a little nod to the trends of the '90s, but with a modern twist.
The other option I would start with is cargo capris.
They have a bit more attitude, a bit more personality, and a bit more of that "yes, I'm wearing capris, and I know exactly what I'm doing" energy.
Cargo capris already make a statement on their own, so you can keep everything else fairly simple. A pair of ballet flats or sleek sneakers, a basic shirt that's a little more elevated than activewear, some good sunglasses (our best friends), and you're ready for brunch or a girls' date.
It's really that simple.

Trust me, I was skeptical too, and I never thought I'd be saying capris are back in 2026, or buying into it, but here we are.
Once I gave them the chance to earn a spot in my wardrobe, I found myself reaching for them constantly, and now I don't want to take them off all summer.
So what do you think?
Are you willing to give them a chance too?
